An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our growing team of specialist ophthalmic nurses.
We have vacancy for an Ophthalmic Emergency Nurse Practitioner post to make a significant contribution to the service developments occurring within our eye department. The post holder will join our existing Ophthalmic Emergency Nurse Practitioner and will be jointly responsible for the management of the Eye Casualty and Rapid Access & Primary Care Clinics. The Eye Casualty sees approximately 6000 new patients each year and is the hub of this busy department.
The Ophthalmology Department is based at St Thomas' Hospital and provides a Comprehensive and specialist adult and paediatric ophthalmology service to South London.
The main activities of the Ophthalmology Department are to provide an Eye Casualty service,
an Outpatients Service, Paediatric Ophthalmology, ophthalmic surgery, including pre- and
post- operative assessments, and investigation of complex medical cases.
The Eye Department activity is mainly located in the South Wing of St. Thomas but there is
also activity on the 8th floor North Wing Day Surgery Unit, 9th floor North Wing Medical Eye
Unit and the 3rd floor South Wing Paediatric Eye Department. The working hours are 9.00 am
to 5.00 pm. At 5.00 pm the casualty service transfers to the main A&E department.
