Job Description:Staff Specialist Nephrologist vacancy for a busy Hospital in a beautiful location on the East Coast of Australia - Mackay, Queensland
OverviewWe have a position for a Staff Specialist Nephrologist in Mackay - Queensland, Australia.
This busy hospital supports the following services: Obstetrics & Gynaecology; Paediatrics; Emergency Medicine; Orthopaedic Surgery; Anaesthetics; Intensive Care; Coronary care; Psychiatry; Aged Care; Renal Medicine; ENT; Ophthalmology; Palliative Care; Day Surgery; Dermatology; Oncology; Orthopaedic; Neurosurgical; Neurology; Liver; Diabetic; Urology; Surgical; Medical; Renal; Pacemaker; Cardiac; haematology; Ophthalmology and Wound Management.
Purpose of role- The Staff Specialist (Nephrology) is responsible for assisting the Director in the provision of high quality clinical services as part of the Department of Medicine, education of Medical Staff and Students, Allied Health, interested Community Groups and Nursing Staff and active participation in patient safety, audit, research and service planning activities.
Key accountabilities- Fulfil the accountabilities of this role in accordance with Queensland Health's core values, as outlined above.
- Provide expert clinical services for the Unit/Department within the Clinical Services Capability Framework for the facility, and within the Clinical Privileges formally granted to the Staff Specialist.
- Provide expert consultancy/advisory services as required to both internal and external agencies that are relevant to the health industry.
- Arrange, supervise and co-ordinate the admission of patients for inpatient care in accordance with the written hospital policies as required.
- Actively participate in in-service training programs, supervise and teach junior medical staff, medical students, nursing and paramedical staff as required.
- Actively participate in patient safety activities, clinical audit, complaints management and actively pursue evidence based practice within the Unit/Department.
- Maintain current knowledge regarding the provision of safe and high quality health care, including the concepts of Human Factors and Patient Safety, and to promote these within the Health Service District.
- Actively participate in and maintain membership in a range of organisational committees.
- Facilitate and encourage innovation and change by adopting contemporary approaches to clinical service delivery creating a high level performance culture within the service.
- Provide ethical decision making in the achievement of organisation goals.
Actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety, and ethical behaviour.
Other duties as directed by the Director of Medicine or the Executive Director of Medical Services
Financial InformationSalary per annum: $136363 - $172891 (the base level).
Salary is paid fortnightly.

Mackay airport serves most major destinations in the country, with a number of airline operators working out of the airport.
